About the Practice
Southern Colorectal was established in 2012 by Dr Kariappa to deliver the highest quality surgical care in a compassionate manner.
Southern Colorectal treats a wide range of conditions that affect the bowel. We offer access to both public and private hospital facilities at several locations. Dr Kariappa consults in his private rooms in Miranda and operates in the major hospitals in southern Sydney.
At Southern Colorectal all aspects of your care; from prevention, treatment to follow-up are carefully structured according to evidence-based guidelines and your personal needs.
Approach
Southern Colorectal was established with the aim of providing specialist care in both the surgical management and long term follow-up of diseases of the colon and rectum.
Our surgeons participate in regular multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings which allow consultant-led discussion of management for patients with cancer including surgical, chemotherapy and radiotherapy options resulting in the best possible tailored care for our patients.
What to Bring
In order to see Dr Kariappa, you will require a referral letter from either your GP or specialist.
You will need to bring any scans or tests you have had performed with you to your appointment.
It is also important that you bring your medicare card, private health insurance details and if you hold one, your pension or DVA card.
Payment and Claims
Southern Colorectal has EFTPOS and Easyclaim facilities (allowing you to immediately claim the medicare rebate following your consultation).
Correspondence
Correspondence regarding consultations, operations or pathology results are relayed electronically, in most instances, to your GP and other doctors involved in your care within 48 hours. This allows all your healthcare providers to have up-to-date information and leads to a better coordinated approach to your ongoing care.
