Dr Sanjay Kariappa is a Consultant Surgeon at The Sutherland Hospital and St George Hospital in addition to operating at Kareena Private Hospital and St George Private Hospital and Prince of Wales Private Hospital.
All emergency surgeries are covered both through Sutherland and Kareena Hospital.

Dr Kariappa’s particular areas of interest include:
- Cancer Surgery
- Robot-assisted surgery
- Laparoscopic (keyhole) colon and rectal cancer resection
- Management of recurrent rectal and colonic cancer
- Inflammatory bowel disease, including laparoscopic IPAA
- Management of complex fistulae
- Haemorrhoids
- Laparoscopic repair of incisional, para-stomal and inguinal hernias
- Diverticular disease
